Needle Felting with Rabbits & Hens

Saturday, March 26, 2022    1-3 p.m.

$45 per participant

Get ready to hop into spring! Spend the afternoon with our grazing bunnies and free-range hens to explore the patterns, colors, and personalities of these fiber- and feather-producing members of our farm family.

Alex Makes Art brings her expertise to the Learning Garden to teach participants how to needle-felt rabbit and chicken sculptures with wool and angora. Learn about the history of needle felting and add to your skillset or try something new. For beginning and advanced artisans alike, Alex works with all levels of experience and welcomes everyone with an interest in fiber to try this wonderful art form!

Participants will be seated at socially-distanced craft tables and will be able to interact with the farm animals who will keep us company while we enjoy the Learning Garden overlooking the farm. Our farm animals are friendly and love attention from our visitors. Treats for animals will be provided for those who wish to interact with the rabbits and hens directly.

Explore feather patterns, types of wool, colors of angora, and shapes of the animals with Education Director Jessica Herwick. Then Alex Makes Art will guide us to needle-felt our own bunny and hen sculptures to bring home. Kits will be provided for all participants, with additional selections of roving, wool, angora, and feathers to inspire creativity and add multiple levels of color and pattern to your work of art.

Most suited for adults, teens, and children 9 years and older (Children 18yrs and younger must attend with an adult).

This program takes place outdoors rain or shine! Please review the Participants Preparation Pages shared with registrants in advance of the workshop.
