Description

Teen Corps 2022

There are a lot of big things going on in the world right now, and it can be overwhelming at times. The farm is a great place to go to relieve some stress and find your center.

Teens are invited to join our Director of Education for this hands-on, leadership-building, project-based experience for one, multiple, or all seasons in 2022.

Each session includes a group gathering and conversation about topics in current events; leadership activities and projects; tending to the Learning Garden (even in winter there are garden tasks to do!); assisting with rabbit and chicken care; harvesting and/or cooking storage crops in the Learning Garden Cottage; and special projects to be decided and designed by our teen participants. Together, we explore nutrition, culinary arts, gardening, agriculture, organic fiber, chicken & rabbit care, and the diverse cultures of food and food systems while developing skills through guided explorations.

2020 & 2021 participants helped establish a wild edibles border around the educational spaces and woodland borders on the farm, planned/planted/maintained the Learning Garden plant production, created new educational signs and plant markers for farm community spaces, mentored and inspired elementary school students through internships, and supported each other through the excitement and anxieties of vaccinations, school reopenings, and the unfolding challenges of the pandemic.

Join us for a whole new year of teen leadership!
