Sign up your family to hang out with our family of English Angora Rabbits in the Learning Garden! If you have been curious about these intelligent, friendly fuzzballs, here's your chance to get up close and personal with the bunnies and spend some time on the farm together!
Participants will meet in the Learning Garden in family groups (parents/caregivers and children are expected to attend together). During each session, participants will interact with the rabbits, learn to groom, train, and care for these special wool-producing animals through games and activities. Experience the many ways we use their fiber to make felt, spin yarn, and create functional and decorative projects from the wool we humanely harvest with the guidance of our Learning Garden Educators.
* Opportunities to foster a rabbit are available for interested families who successfully complete this course together.
* Foster families can choose to adopt after positive fostering experiences.
* Sessions will take place outdoors and on the ground with the rabbits. Please bring your own blanket and water bottles for your family.
COVID SAFETY AND AWARENESS
Face masks are required for each session. We are currently masking when going indoors for any amount of time, and anytime we are unable to remain at safe distances from each other. During rain, play will move to the Learning Garden Cottage, considered an indoor space. Staff and participants are required to wear masks when in the Cottage.
Due to safety precautions, we will not prepare food on-site or eat together as part of the regular program sessions, unless we are able to remain fully outdoors for the entire program session. Please eat before you arrive on site. Please do not send your child with snacks. A light snack will be provided when the weather permits. Water bottles or warm liquids are okay. Safe spaces are provided for water breaks.
When produce can be harvested, youth will bring items home for snacking and cooking with their family.
More information about our COVID-19 Safety Recommendations and how to best prepare your family for this program will be delivered upon registration closer to the start date of the program. Learning Garden Safety Recommendations are posted and updated as needed on our website.
Participants may be asked to complete a COVID-19 potential exposure self-screening.
