A small group, socially-distanced walk and talk on-site at Waltham Fields Community Farm!

Did you know that Mother Nature provides us with wild edibles throughout the summer and into the early fall? Get your harvesting bags ready and come together for this small group, socially-distanced gathering on the farm with wild edibles expert Russ Cohen to walk the farm, locate and identify wild, edible species, and ask questions from the expert. Russ will share his knowledge and favorite recipes as we spend a few hours outdoors getting closer to nature and the gifts it provides! Some wild edibles can be harvested during the workshop to take home and try.  

The WFCF Barn Store will be open before the workshop begins. Find copies of Russ's book, cool drinks, and wholesome local treats! (Cash & credit cards accepted).

More about Russ: Since his retirement in June 2015, while continuing to offer walks and talks on foraging for wild edibles, Russ is now playing the role of Johnny Appleseed for native edible species. He has set up a nursery, near his childhood home in Weston, MA, where he is growing over 1,000 plants, representing more than a third of the 180-plus edible species native to New England ecoregions. Many of these plants were propagated from seed Russ gathered himself. Russ is forming partnerships with land trusts, municipalities, state and federal agencies, schools and colleges, tribal groups and others, to plant plants from his nursery on appropriate places on their properties.
